Many times insurance companies will try to discredit a patient's pain symptoms by saying the patient did not declare any injuries at the time of the accident. Scientific evidence however, does not support the insurance companies stance. Medical literature is full of proof that onset of symptoms due to an auto injury do not necessarily begin at the same time as the actual auto accident.
Often a delay of several hours, days or even weeks is common in some injuries post auto accident. Many times patients will feel no pain directly after the accident due to many reasons, adrenaline being one. Over time, as the inflammation process takes hold and the adrenaline reduces, the symptoms become more pronounced.
So if you've been in an auto accident and it's been some time after the actual date of the accident and you are experiencing discomfort that you weren't prior to the accident, it's a good idea to come and get checked out.
